Meet Dr. Saunders
Dr. Monica Witte Saunders was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. She is the second of six children and enjoys being part of a large family. Her interest in dentistry actually originates from her family. Working with her father, a periodontist in Tyler, Texas, and her uncle, a pediatric dentist in Arlington, Texas, solidified her decision to pursue a career in the dental field.
After graduation from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995, Monica went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating in the top of her class. From there, she completed her advanced education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Loma Linda University in California, a highly competitive program which accepted only two out-of-state applicants the year she was admitted. Here, she obtained a Master of Science degree through the completion of her thesis, a clinical study on absolute anchorage in orthodontics.
Dr. Saunders and her husband, Jeff, are proud parents of three: Grant, Brice and Sydney. Outside of work, Monica enjoys reading, music, and spending time with her family.
ABOUT THE TEAM:
The Hidden Lakes Orthodontics team strives toward providing gentle, quality care to all of our patients. All of our assistants are highly trained and have their certification by the state as registered dental assistants. To maintain their certification, they take continuing education courses each year.
Raquel Hernandez:
Raquel is the heart of our Hidden Lakes Orthodontics team. She not only runs the front desk, but is also a registered dental assistant. Raquel is trained to handle all orthodontic emergencies. We adore Raquel’s willingness to help in all areas of the office. Outside of work, Raquel is active in her church and enjoys spending time with her family and god-daughter.
Amy Lockwood Collins:
Amy joined our team in February 2010 and has been showering us with her sunny personality ever since. Originally from Louisiana, Amy moved to the DFW area in 2008. After becoming a registered dental assistant, Amy focused her assisting skills in the orthodontic field. We are thrilled to have her with us! Outside of work, Amy spends time with her husband, Brandon, and children. Amy and Brandon welcomed a new addition to the family in October 2010 -- Liliana Grace! We are all enjoying getting to know this beautiful little girl!
Ellicia Bailey:
We are so pleased to have Ellicia as a part of the Hidden Lakes Orthodontics team. Ellicia has worked as an orthodontic assistant since 2005. We admire her ability to put patients at ease with her easy-going and sweet personality. Outside of work, Ellicia is an experienced barrel racer and teaches private horseback riding lessons.
