2. Are braces expensive?
The cost of treatment varies based on the level of difficulty. We strive to keep our fees reasonable and are in network for most insurance plans. In addition, we offer interest free, in-office financing.

3. What age should my child be seen for an orthodontic consult?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children have an orthodontic screening by age seven.

5. What is Phase I and Phase II treatment?
Phase I, or early interceptive treatment, is limited orthodontic treatment before all of the permanent teeth have erupted. This treatment can occur between the ages of six and ten. Phase I treatment may be recommended for the correction of crossbites, overbites, underbites, or harmful oral habits. Often, phase I treatment is followed by a second phase of treatment (Phase II) when all of the permanent teeth have erupted.

6. Would an adult benefit from braces?
Orthodontic treatment is for people of all ages. Adults can definitely benefit from orthodontic treatment. Everyone wants a beautiful and healthy smile.

7. How long does orthodontic treatment take?
The treatment length varies depending on the individual patient needs, but the average treatment time is from one to two years. Treatment length is also dependent upon patient compliance. Maintaining proper oral hygiene and keeping regular appointments are important in keeping treatment time on schedule.

8. Do braces hurt?
The placement of brackets and bands on the teeth does not hurt. After the wire is placed, teeth will feel sore for approximately two to three days as the teeth align. It may take one to two weeks for your lips and cheeks to adjust to the rubbing of the bands and brackets.

9. Should I see my general dentist while I am wearing braces?
Yes. You should maintain regular check-up and cleaning appointments while in braces.

10. How can I keep my teeth clean while in braces?
It is more difficult to clean teeth with bands, brackets, and wires; however, we provide you with special tools to help with this process. Maintaining your regular dental cleanings also helps keep your teeth healthy.

11. How long are orthodontic appointments and how often will I have to come in for an appointment?
Appointments are usually between 15 to 30 minutes in length. Band and bracket placement appointments can be over an hour. Usually, patients are scheduled for appointments every four to six weeks.

12. Can my teeth be straightened without wearing braces?
Possibly. Some patients are candidates for invisible braces called Invisalign.
